THE USUAL · Effective 4 August 2026
The short version. THE USUAL has no accounts, no sign-up and no analytics. We do not collect, store or sell your personal information. Your game progress lives on your device and nowhere else.
Two third parties can receive data, and only in specific circumstances: Google AdMob if you choose to watch a rewarded ad, and Apple Game Center if you submit a score. Both are described below.
Your save — coins, unlocks, best runs, settings and any run in progress — is written to your device’s local storage. It is never transmitted to us and we have no way to read it. Deleting the app deletes it permanently; we cannot restore it.
The game offers optional rewarded ads. Nothing in THE USUAL is gated behind an ad — the entire game is playable without ever watching one. An ad loads only when you choose to watch it.
When you do, Google AdMob may collect and process:
This is handled by Google under its own policy, not by us. See How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
On first launch iOS asks whether you allow tracking. Declining costs you nothing. The game is identical either way; ads simply become non-personalised. You can change your answer at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Players in regions requiring consent (such as the EEA and UK) are additionally shown Google’s consent form before any personalised advertising.
If you are signed in to Game Center and submit a score, your score and Game Center alias are sent to Apple and shown on the leaderboard. This is optional — the game plays fully without signing in. We receive no personal information from Apple, and we cannot see who you are.
THE USUAL is rated 12+ and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through this app, contact us and we will act on it.
Because we hold no personal data ourselves, deletion or access requests concerning advertising or leaderboards must go to Google or Apple respectively. We are glad to point you to the right place — just ask.
If this policy changes materially, the effective date above changes and the revised version appears here before the change takes effect.
